NYX Doll Eye Mascara

We all know that old saying "Never judge a book by it's cover."

Pfft! I am a sucker for cute packaging and I'll unashamedly admit it. NYX has pretty cute yet chic packaging and does a good job of luring me to their counter again and again and again...

I needed a new mascara after losing my beloved Bourjois Volume Clubbing Mascara, so I decided to try out the NYX Doll Eye Mascara in DE02 which has a volumizing effect. There's also a lengthening and waterproof mascara, but I tend to favour volume these days.

Extremely full & extremely black eye lashes... Who wouldn't want that? :)

The ingredients list... Cruelty free! Although it's hypoallergenic, unfortunately, this mascara does contain parabens.

As for the tube...

 It may not have that "expensive look", but it is cute and sleek.

The brush has this odd shape which is both good and bad. Good because it fits the shape of my eye nicely. Bad coz the tip is a bit too big and can't catch those teeny tiny hairs at the corners of my eyes.

Ok, so it's not that amazing... a pretty standard mascara that coats lashes evenly. It has a very dry formula which is nice because it dries quicker. The brush makes application easy and separates lashes for a very slight dolly look.

I feel that this mascara lacks a true volumizing effect which is disappointing because it says extreme volume on the box... where are the thick, lush lashes?  It also feels sticky when I blink - I sneezed once and my top lashes stuck to my bottom lashes... strange. 


My verdict:
NYX Doll Eye mascara is an average mascara that's OK as an everyday mascara, but there are better ones out there. I'm really disappointed with this one.
